Growing up in Hyderabad, Madhavi was a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, performing over a thousand stage shows before ever stepping onto a film set. Her career was launched while she was still a teenager in the 8th grade when director Dasari Narayana Rao cast her in the hit Telugu film Thoorupu Padamara .
