Oldboy is the second installment in Park Chan-wook’s thematically linked Vengeance Trilogy , following Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and preceding Lady Vengeance (2005). While all three films are critically acclaimed, Oldboy achieved a level of global cult status that few foreign films ever attain.
