Not apocalypse. Not the unveiling. Not the quiet lifting of a veil to show you the truth you always suspected—that the world was always burning.
This is not nihilism. Nihilism is cold. This is fever-hot. This is the last neuron firing as the cortex shuts down, and in that flash, understanding everything and caring only that it felt like something. apocalust v008 psychodelusional
In the face of catastrophic climate change, global pandemics, and technological singularities, apocalyptic ideations have become increasingly prevalent. This paper explores the psychological and neuroscientific underpinnings of end-times delusions, specifically in the context of a post-apocalyptic world. We introduce the concept of "Apocalust v008 Psychodelusional" (APD), a novel framework for understanding the intersection of apocalyptic thinking, psychedelic experiences, and cognitive distortions. Through a mixed-methods approach combining survey research, neuroimaging, and psychopharmacological interventions, we investigate the cognitive and neurological correlates of APD. Our results reveal a complex interplay between default mode network activity, dopamine release, and cognitive biases in the emergence of APD. We discuss the implications of our findings for the development of novel therapeutic approaches and the importance of addressing the psychological toll of existential crises in a rapidly changing world.
